We're on the hunt for a sharp, detail-oriented Technical Writer to join our engineering team in Irvine, CA on a contract basis. As a hybrid on-site role, you'll be expected to balance working from our Irvine office and remotely, giving you the flexibility and collaborative spirit we value here. Our growing user base demands meticulous and straightforward product documentation; that's where you come in.

The Mission: Clear and Concise Documentation

Your primary task will be transforming complex technical details into accessible and engaging content for our diverse audience. This involves:

  1. Crafting and maintaining API documentation, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and completeness.
  2. Developing user manuals, installation guides, and troubleshooting documents.
  3. Collaborating closely with engineers, product managers, and support teams to gather information and validate content.
  4. Implementing and upholding style guides and documentation standards.
  5. Managing and organizing the documentation repository for easy accessibility and searchability.
  6. Gathering user feedback on documentation and making continuous improvements based on user needs.
  7. Creating tutorials and examples to help users get the most out of our products.

Ideal Candidate Attributes

  • A bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, engineering, or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Three to five years of field experience in technical writing, particularly in software documentation.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely, and explain technical topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency with documentation tools like Sphinx, Markdown, or similar.
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies, agile practices, and product lifecycle management.
  • A portfolio demonstrating outstanding technical writing skills and the ability to adapt to different subject matters and audience levels.
  • Experience in version control systems, such as Git, and a commitment to following documentation best practices.
