Our engineering team in Durham is growing, and we need a technical writer to create clear and concise documentation for our cutting-edge hardware products. This role is vital for ensuring our customers, from engineers to end-users, understand and utilize our products effectively. We're looking for someone passionate about technology and skilled at translating complex concepts into user-friendly language.
The Core Challenge: Bridging Tech and User Understanding
You'll be responsible for producing a wide range of technical documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, troubleshooting guides, API documentation, and white papers. We’ll need your assistance with maintaining consistent style and adhering to documentation standards, collaborating closely with engineers and product managers to gather information, validating documentation with hands-on testing, and proactively identifying areas for improvement.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Authoring comprehensive user manuals for new hardware products.
- Crafting step-by-step installation guides for seamless setup.
- Developing in-depth troubleshooting guides to resolve common issues.
- Creating clear and accurate API documentation for developers.
- Writing engaging white papers on the technology behind our products.
- Collaborating with engineering teams to understand technical details.
- Ensuring accuracy through rigorous testing and validation.
- Maintaining style guides and documentation standards.
- Proactively identifying and addressing gaps in existing documentation.
- Managing documentation updates and revisions.
Essential Expertise We're Looking For:
- A background in technical writing, journalism, or a related field.

- Proficiency with documentation tools like MadCap Flare or similar.
