Job description

We are scaling our technical documentation and seek a savvy, communicative technical writer to join our Sacramento-based engineering team (with flexible remote options). You will translate complex systems into plain-English documentation for end-users, developers, and internal teams. You should enjoy diving deep into intricate software platforms and explaining the ins and outs in a clear, concise manner. If you’re ready to take ownership of product documentation, API guides, and knowledge base articles, we encourage you to apply!

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Author and maintain product manuals, user guides, installation instructions, and API documentation. Become the expert!
  • Collaborate directly with product managers, software engineers, and support staff to grasp technical subject matter and product functionality.
  • Edit and proofread technical content crafted by others, ensuring consistency and adhering to brand guidelines.
  • Incorporate user feedback and testing results to continuously enhance documentation accuracy and utility.
  • Publish and maintain up-to-date documentation across various platforms, including our knowledge base, website, and in-product help centers.
  • Develop interactive tutorials and training materials to improve user onboarding and product adoption.
  • Create diagrams, flowcharts, and illustrations to enhance visual understanding of complex technical concepts.

Your Expertise Includes:

  • A background rooted in technical writing, combined with demonstrated aptitude in computer science, engineering, or a similar tech-centric field.
  • Experience generating documentation for software platforms, APIs, and hardware products. Experience authoring API documentation using tools like Swagger or Postman is a huge plus.
  • Mastery of technical writing methodologies and best practices, including information architecture and content organization.
  • An innate skill for conveying highly technical concepts in a manner readily accessible to diverse audiences, ranging from engineers to end-users.
  • Proven track record of efficiently managing multiple projects simultaneously, meeting stringent deadlines, and proactively communicating progress.
  • Familiarity with content management systems, version control, and collaboration tools (e.g., Git, Confluence, SharePoint).
  • Portfolio showing exceptional documentation samples.

The Perks of Joining Us:

  • Competitive salary package that rewards exceptional contributions.
  • Comprehensive health benefits encompassing medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Generous paid time off to promote a healthy work-life harmony.
  • Options for both on-site work in Sacramento, CA, along with flexible remote work alternatives.
  • Matching 401(k) plan to secure your financial future.
  • Opportunities for constant professional enrichment, skills enhancement, and career advancement.
  • Engaging workplace environment with a collaborative and supportive team culture.
