Seeking a seasoned technical writer in Boston to bridge the gap between complex technology and user understanding. As our Technical Content Specialist, you will transform intricate software functionalities into accessible, user-friendly documentation, API references, and engaging tutorials.

Your Core Responsibilities:

  • Craft clear, concise documentation: Translate sophisticated software features into easy-to-understand user manuals, guides, and release notes.
  • Develop API documentation: Create detailed API documentation, SDK guides, and code samples to empower developers. This includes explaining authentication, methods, parameters, and error handling.
  • Produce tutorials: Develop engaging tutorials that guide users through common tasks and complex workflows using our software products.
  • Collaborate with engineers: Work closely with software developers, product managers, and QA engineers to gather information and ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain documentation: Keep existing documentation updated and accurate by incorporating updates, addressing user feedback, and revising content as needed.
  • Optimize content: Employ SEO best practices to enhance the visibility and searchability of our technical documentation.
  • Conduct user research: Analyze user feedback and usage data to pinpoint areas for improvement and create documentation that meets their needs.
  • Contribute to style guides: Assist in refining and enforcing our technical writing style guide to maintain consistency and quality across all documentation.
  • Participate in content planning: Collaborate with stakeholders to plan and prioritize documentation projects based on product roadmaps and user requirements.

What You'll Bring to the Table:

  • Background in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Practical mastery of technical writing, with a portfolio displaying your expertise in documenting software, APIs, or hardware.
  • Proficiency with documentation tools such as Sphinx, Doxygen, or similar.
  • Capacity to decipher and describe intricate technical concepts accurately.
  • Understanding of Markdown, reStructuredText, or similar markup languages.
  • Skill in producing diagrams, charts, and other visuals to enhance documentation.
  • Strong analytical skills to dissect user feedback and data, enhancing content relevance.
  • Detail-oriented to ensure impeccable documentation.
  • Effective communicator, bridging developers and end users seamlessly.
