We're looking for a versatile Technical Writer to join our growing team in Oklahoma City. This is not your average documentation role. We need someone who can translate highly complex technical jargon into easy-to-understand user guides, API documentation, and internal knowledge base articles. You'll be working closely with our software engineers, product managers, and customer support teams to ensure our users have the resources they need to succeed. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, loves problem-solving, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for our software products, including user manuals, API references, and troubleshooting guides.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather technical information and translate it into clear, concise, and accurate content.
- Write and edit various technical documents, such as release notes, installation guides, and white papers.
- Maintain and improve the organization and structure of our existing documentation library.
- Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and emerging trends in technical writing.
- Participate in product design and development discussions to ensure documentation is created proactively.
- Work with the customer support team to identify and address documentation gaps.
- Create video tutorials and other multimedia content to enhance the user experience.
- Conduct user research to understand documentation needs and preferences.
- Ensure all documentation meets our quality standards and style guidelines.
Skills That Shine:
- A history in technical writing, ideally within the software industry.
- Solid understanding of software development processes and methodologies.
- Expertise with documentation tools, such as MadCap Flare, Confluence, and Git.
- Superb communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team setting.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Capacity to quickly grasp technical concepts and explain them in a clear, concise manner.
- Knowledge of API documentation standards (e.g., OpenAPI/Swagger).
- Experience with creating video tutorials and multimedia content.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
