Our rapidly expanding downtown Chicago software house needs a detail-oriented Technical Content Specialist. This isn't just about documentation; it's about ensuring our clients, both sophisticated enterprises and tech-savvy startups, understand the power and nuance of our proprietary platform.

Responsibilities: Delving Into the Technical Landscape

  • Translate complex software functionalities into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
  • Produce user guides, API documentation, troubleshooting manuals, and release notes that address different experience levels.
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, and customer support teams to capture and refine the essential information for optimal clarity.
  • Act as a gatekeeper, maintaining documentation accuracy and relevancy through frequent updates.
  • Contribute to the evolution of our content standards and guidelines, incorporating user feedback to refine and elevate the user experience.
  • Explore fresh avenues for delivering information such as interactive tutorials, video explanations, and knowledge bases to bolster user adoption.
  • Contribute to testing new features and improvements by critically appraising their influence on the user base, emphasizing documentation updates that meet the users' immediate needs.
  • Drive ongoing SEO initiatives through the execution of technical website changes that further amplify our presence, ensuring top performance via organic strategies and well-coordinated campaigns.

Intellectual Foundation

  • A degree or relevant certification in technical writing, English, computer science, or a similar area.
  • Demonstrated ability to explain complex software features simply and concisely.
  • Experience with various documentation styles (e.g., Markdown, reStructuredText, OpenAPI/Swagger).
  • Proficiency with Git and collaborative coding environments.
  • Familiarity with various content management systems (CMS) and documentation tools.
  • Exceptional written communication abilities and outstanding analytical capacities.
  • Strong collaborative and interpersonal capabilities.
  • A passion for learning and dissecting new technology solutions.
