As a freelance Scriptwriter focusing on on-site and remote collaboration, you'll nurture aspiring talent and assist in developing compelling narratives that resonate deeply with local and national audiences.

Core Mission & Project Goals

As a Scriptwriting Mentor, your chief aspiration involves facilitating dynamic workshops tailored to budding scriptwriters. You'll play a significant role in shaping the raw material into captivating, professionally-formatted screenplays, short films, and theatrical plays. This unique partnership offers a remarkable pathway to influence fresh artistic talent and contribute significantly to Kentucky's cultural sphere. Your creative footprint will be very impactful.

Main Creative Objectives

  • Offer hands-on training for the use of industry-grade software, including Final Draft and Celtx.
  • Guide collaborative group writing exercises centered around unique themes that mirror Lexington’s heritage.
  • Administer constructive critique and actionable guidance throughout the developmental process.
  • Maintain an inspiring, energetic ambiance supportive to diverse perspectives and innovation.
  • Actively seek opportunities to connect talents with potential collaborators (e.g., independent film-makers or theater troupes).
  • Produce top-quality scripts ready for potential staging or screen adaption. Create works of lasting impact. Craft high-caliber narratives.

Capabilities Profile

Ideally, you bring an established record as a Scriptwriter or Story Editor, paired with outstanding communication qualities. A knack for imparting knowledge through constructive and supportive coaching will position you exceptionally to inspire emerging local talents. The successful candidate will be comfortable mentoring adults with a wide range of backgrounds, experience levels, and learning styles. Having empathy for students’ unique goals is essential.

We would be extremely impressed if you possess some of the following characteristics:

  • Extensive insight into various writing genres – including drama, comedy, and documentary forms.
  • Past instructional encounters either through institutional programs or workshop arrangements.
  • Familiarity with Kentucky’s theatrical communities and independent filmmaking scenes.
  • Substantial involvement in script assessments or narrative developments at studios or theaters.
  • Proven understanding of the industry’s standards, expectations, and ethics.
  • Passion for mentoring rising creative talents.

Our Offer to You

  • Very competitive freelance rates that adequately reflect experience.
  • A chance to imprint positively on Lexington's budding art scene.
  • Possible avenues for your works during partnered performances and potential film screenings.
  • Unparalleled occasions for networking across numerous facets of creative arts.
  • Flexible planning that blends both virtual involvement and scheduled on-site activities.
  • Career-changing prospects to steer the advancement of others while reinforcing your skill mastery. We will support your goals with flexible resources.
