Job description

We're a purpose-driven organization dedicated to revitalizing communities in Winston-Salem and beyond through strategic grant funding. As our new Grant Writer, you'll be at the heart of this mission, transforming impactful stories into successful funding proposals. Forget sterile grant templates; we need a wordsmith who can capture the essence of our community programs and articulate our vision to diverse funding sources.

Your Community Impact

You won't just be filling out forms; you'll be the linchpin connecting community needs with philanthropic resources. Your grant applications will pave the way for vital programs in education, housing, and local business development. Day-to-day, expect to collaborate closely with program directors, finance officers, and community stakeholders to weave comprehensive and compelling narratives.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Researching grant opportunities: You'll explore both government and private funding avenues aligning with our mission.
  • Crafting compelling narratives: Transforming program details and statistical data into emotional, impactful stories.
  • Managing grant writing projects: Working within deadlines and coordinating with different departments to gather input.
  • Reporting and documentation: Tracking submissions, managing documentation, and providing follow-up reports.
  • Staying up-to-date: Attending grant writing workshops, networking events, and remaining abreast of grant funding trends.

Who You Are

You are a self-motivated individual with a passion for community development and an uncanny ability to articulate complex ideas. Ideally, you bring several years of experience in grant writing, complemented by an academic grounding in a related discipline such as Communications, English, Public Policy, or Nonprofit Management. Bonus points for knowledge of the Winston-Salem philanthropic landscape. Experience matters; dedication to making a difference matters more.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Demonstrable proficiency in writing grant proposals for diverse funding entities.
  • An intricate understanding of nonprofit management and grant administration processes.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication capabilities, tailored for varied audiences.
  • Comfort working within a team dynamic as well as independently.
  • Ability to think strategically, manage projects efficiently, and meet stringent deadlines.

Our Commitment to You

  • A competitive compensation package reflective of your contributions.
  • Comprehensive health and wellness benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Generous vacation, sick leave, and paid holidays.
  • Opportunities for professional enrichment and advancement.
  • A vibrant, collaborative work environment fueled by a genuine commitment to making a positive difference in our community.

We deeply value inclusivity and aim to create a welcoming work environment where everyone feels empowered to thrive. If you possess a flair for compelling storytelling and a commitment to community betterment, we welcome your application.
